The Challenge: A Well-Established Store Not Fully Capturing Its Search Potential

When I started working on the store, it was already generating approximately 23,000 organic visits, but its organic performance was not fully reflecting the search opportunities available in the Saudi watches and accessories market.

The challenge was not simply the volume of traffic. It was also about the quality and relevance of its search visibility.

The store was not ranking strongly for many important commercial search terms used by potential customers when looking for watches and accessories.

At the same time, the blog contained existing content that needed to be restructured and optimized to better align with SEO objectives and user needs.

This created several clear growth opportunities:

  • Increasing organic traffic.
  • Improving rankings for important commercial keywords.
  • Making better use of the store’s product and category pages.
  • Rebuilding the content strategy.
  • Strengthening the connections between different sections of the website.

The SEO Strategy: From Traffic Growth to High-Value Search Opportunities

Rather than focusing solely on increasing the number of visits, I approached the website as an interconnected SEO ecosystem, covering everything from its technical foundation to content and keyword targeting.

1. Analyzing the Website’s Current Performance

The project began with a comprehensive analysis of the website to understand its current performance, identify its strengths, and uncover the opportunities with the greatest growth potential.

The analysis included:

  • Search performance.
  • Existing keyword rankings.
  • Pages generating organic traffic.
  • Pages with strong growth potential.
  • Competitors in the Saudi market.
  • Website architecture.
  • Existing content.
  • Opportunities to expand commercial keyword coverage.

2. Keyword Research and Commercial Search Targeting

I analyzed keywords related to watches and accessories and identified opportunities that could provide genuine business value to the store.

The goal was not simply to target keywords with high search volume. Instead, the strategy focused heavily on Search Intent and the distinction between informational and commercial searches.

Someone searching for information about a type of watch has a different intent from someone comparing products or preparing to make a purchase.

For this reason, the keyword strategy was designed to support different stages of the customer journey, with particular emphasis on commercially relevant search terms.

3. Optimizing Product and Category Pages

For ecommerce websites, having products available on the site is not enough. Product and category pages need to be structured in a way that makes them useful to both search engines and users.

The strategy therefore included reviewing and improving key page elements such as:

  • Page titles.
  • Meta Titles.
  • Meta Descriptions.
  • H1 headings.
  • On-page content.
  • Keyword targeting.
  • Page structure.
  • Internal linking.
  • Opportunities for category and product pages to rank for relevant searches.

4. Re-Optimizing Existing Blog Content

The blog represented one of the website’s biggest untapped growth opportunities.

Instead of focusing primarily on publishing new content, the first priority was to improve and repurpose the existing content so that it aligned more effectively with the keyword strategy and Search Intent.

This included:

  • Restructuring existing articles.
  • Improving titles and headings.
  • Enhancing content quality and relevance.
  • Addressing overlap between articles.
  • Adding missing information.
  • Strengthening internal linking.
  • Connecting informational content with relevant product and category pages.

The goal was not simply to generate traffic to blog articles. It was to turn content into a pathway that helps users move from search to product discovery.

5. Improving Internal Linking

I worked on strengthening the internal linking structure so that the relationships between informational content and commercial pages became clearer.

For example, when an article discusses a specific type of watch, users can be directed to the relevant category or related products.

This helps:

  • Improve user navigation.
  • Make important pages easier to discover.
  • Distribute internal link equity.
  • Establish clearer relationships between informational and commercial pages.

6. Technical SEO

The website’s core technical SEO elements were reviewed to ensure that search engines could access, understand, and index its important pages appropriately.

The review covered areas such as:

  • Crawling & Indexing.
  • XML Sitemap.
  • Robots.txt.
  • Canonical Tags.
  • Redirects.
  • Duplicate pages.
  • Internal linking.
  • Website architecture.
  • Mobile SEO.
  • Page speed and user experience.
  • Structured Data where appropriate.

Because the store operates on Salla, the technical strategy focused on improvements that could realistically be implemented within the capabilities and limitations of the platform, rather than recommending technical changes that were impractical or unavailable.

7. Competitor Monitoring and Growth Opportunity Analysis

The competitive landscape in the Saudi market was monitored to understand:

  • Which keywords competitors were ranking for.
  • Which types of pages were driving their organic visibility.
  • Untapped content opportunities.
  • Commercial keywords worth competing for.
  • The store’s strengths and weaknesses compared with competitors.

This helped prioritize SEO efforts around the most promising opportunities rather than spreading resources across unrelated tasks.

The Results: Significant Growth in Just Three Months

After implementing the integrated SEO strategy, organic traffic increased from approximately 23,000 visits to 51,000 visits during the engagement period.

This represents more than 118% growth compared with the starting point.

More than 100 keywords also improved in rankings, while the store gained stronger visibility for commercial search terms where competitors had previously held stronger positions.

What do these results mean for the business?

For an ecommerce store, organic traffic growth is more than just a number in Google Search Console.

Greater visibility among people actively searching for watches and accessories means:

Greater Visibility → More Organic Visits → More Product Discovery Opportunities → Greater Potential for Sales

This is where Ecommerce SEO becomes a long-term growth investment.

The objective is not simply to bring visitors to a website. It is to build a sustainable presence in the search results where potential customers are actively looking for the products they want to buy.
